Guys..I need help!

Hi guys!! First of all, let me just say thank you thank you thank you to all of you who wished me a Happy Birthday! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! I indeed had a very happy birthday.

Secondly, I want to get some advice. Right now my camera is a Sony Cybershot DSCW100 with 8.1 megapixel, but somehow it's crapping out on me. It doesn't zoom in like it used to, and the picture quality isn't the greatest. So, for xmas, I'm thinking of getting a new camera. However, since I'm pretty much technologically illiterate, I need some help finding one. I want one that takes very clear pictures and colors true to life, and zooms easily, and most importantly, not super expensive. I was looking at Nessa's blog, and I've always loved her pics, but the Nikon camera she uses costs $1200! I was like "Say WHAT?!", obviously, that's not really in my budget...I mean I COULD get it and starve myself (or live off of ramen) for 6 months, but I'd REALLY rather not. So to all of you tech savvy people...What do you recommend?

Thank you so much in advance for you help!
Tao

p.s. I just did a China Glaze haul, and I will upload the pics soon. The YT vid is uploading as we speak. Feel free to check it out! Peace!

My friend is a photographer and he recommended me to get either Nikon or Canon brand when I was searching for a camera. I got myself the Canon SD1100 for $200...I think it's about $150 now at several online stores. I love the color and quality of this camera. You should check it out.

Canon is good! Same with Fuji camera. I am sorry for Sony Camera lovers out there but the slim ones they came out really looks pretty but their flash is the tiniest ever. If you search for a cam, take a look at how big the flash is. And Cinthia is right, Canon SD11000 is great too! :)

Hey new blogger and avid follower!

I use the Sony DSC T-7. Super slim, and it's great eye candy. But you should go to a Best Buy and try them all out to see what suits you best really.

I love how you do your makeup. No lie.

Nessa uses Nikon D40x, which is on sale for $650 in couple of places if you shop around.

I've got a Canon SD870 IS and I;m loving it so far; my previous camera was a Nikon Coolpix. The Coolpix series is pretty good, I think their new ones are actually really nice. Newegg.com might have some pretty good deals on cameras, especially with Christmas shopping on the horizon (that's where my bf got the canon).

i usually use SLR's but for a good point and shoot, i'd recommend either canon powershot or nikon coolpix.. you don't always have to get the newest ver for it to be a good cam :) plus you save money that way too.

canon's various prices/products

i don't know about nikon point and shoots but my bf has one (he's a photog like me) so they can't be all that bad :)

I believe for many of Nessa's pics she uses her point and shoot rather than the SLR, which is the Canon SD750. I have it too! SO got it for me from Dell's website for around $150. Shipping's quick! It's been workin' out great. :) Go Canon. I switched from Sony and I'm never going to touch another of their cams again.

I'm a sony lover and my sony cameras had never fail me..well, probably because I don't get the pretty ones..I dont know how the new ones are working, but if you get the H series, they're pretty good. Don't forget to change your ISO settings, image size, the zoom settings and your flash settings...

Go with cannon. It's not all about the megapixels. You can have a 10 migapixel camera but if it comes with a bad lens then it's not worth it at all. I use a canon sd1000 and it's greeeat. There are upgraded versions now but this camera is built to last and the lens is great. It has a hard protective shell too so if it falls it should be somewhat ok because the lens is protected. Mine has fallen down a flight of stairs before and worked like nothing ever happened ^_^ I have some friends who are photographers and they said that for a little digital camera the canon sds are excellent. Oh btw the price is great too. I got mine on sale during summer for like only $160!!

just like most here, I use Canon. I always compare my shots with friends/family when they use casio, sony,etc.. each time I'm glad I got canon. It's the third one I own, it's very old and only 5MP, but still works great. I gave out the old ones. I wanna get a new one but no matter how rough I get with my current canon, it's still working great. It's always in my purse or bagpack or pocket and it has been thrown around and dropped...not intentionally.. still ggreat!

My first digicam was a Sony but I made the switch over to Canon. For one, I hated using memory sticks and SD cards are sooo much cheaper these days.

I, myself, have a Canon DSLR and a Canon point/shoot digital camera.

I don't think you need to get an SLR unless you are wanting to really expand more into photography. You could get a DSLR for under $700 if you wanted but you have to keep in mind that lenses are going to cost even more than the camera body itself later on.

My suggestion to you would be something like the Canon S5. It's got an awesome swivel LCD screen that makes it easy to do FOTD pics. It also has a very powerful zoom and macro/super macro features!

if that's too big for you, then you could give the Powershot SD990 or the Powershot A590IS a look. My sister has the A590IS and it's an awesome little camera!

Hrm well the one Vanessa uses is those large professional ones right? I suggest you get a digital camera by either Nikon or Canon. Canon makes pretty decent cameras. The new Nikon Coolpix (I think) are good.

Try not to get another Sony. I don't hear many good things about them.
