This is why I don't cook. (GRUESOME PICS)

I've had my fair share of kitchen disasters as a child who had spent way too much time in the kitchen with her nanny.

You would've guessed that I'd be an expert chef from all the injuries I've obtained from being in the kitchen.   Yet unfortunately...I'm not.

Nathan and I often choose to go out to eat because:
1. It sucks to cook for two people--There's no quite the ideal amount of food to prepare. It's always too little or too much.
2. It takes WAY longer to prepare/clean up than the actual cooking.
3. Economy of Scale. It's actually cheaper for us to go out to eat than to cook.

Over the weekend I was feeling particularly adventurous (mainly because we got this AWESOME Japanese cooking sauce), so I decided to make chicken w/ potatoes.

Sounds harmless right?

Well...I guess there were some water on chicken when I put it in the hot oil, because the oil splatter on my hand in big globs.

Before you know it...

This is immediately after the incident

 Two hours later..

The next morning...

So it's safe to say that Nathan and I will continue to eat out and there won't be any new product swatches for a while.

Don't fret though, I've got some pre-shot swatches on my files. :)

Also, I'm in the process of doing another blog sale soon, so stay tuned!

xoxo

OMG! I feel so bad for you! I remember getting blisters like that when I got hot glue on my hand! But darn oil! I don't know what you should do in this case... if you should pop it or let it ease down?!

OMG! I hope your hand's doing better today. I love to bake and cook but if there's one thing I refuse to do it's deep-fry. Yeah...no, not happening. And anytime I have to cook anything in even a tiny bit of hot oil, I have to whip out my super long ass chopsticks so I can stand 2 feet away from the pan while cooking. People think it looks crazy but I'm scared of the hot oil, yo!

Ouch :( I hope it heals soon. This is the main reason 85% of the foods I buy must have a microwavable option and the other 15% I bake. Hot oil is no joke, take care of your hand.

I wear dish washing gloves or oven mitts when I cook. I may look crazy, nah, I DO look crazy but I gotta do what I gotta do. And honestly, even with the added protection, I'm still scared of the hot oil. Eating out is definitely the safer option. I hope your hands heal quickly! Take care Tao!

ouch, those blisters are no fun! If I ever have to cook with hot oil, I use these super long pair of tongs to put the food in the pan. Most of the time I'll use a steamer or bake chicken/fish to minimize standing in front of the stove, so I can wash up all the prep stuff while the food cooks.

Usually if i get hot oil from cooking, i'll apply triple antibiotic ointment from walmart. It will prevent the bubble forming up from hand and left an ugly scar. I hope that help, and before fried the chicken, i always pat them with paper towel before frying. get well soon dear :)
