Lesson of the day (part 2)

Ok I'm back. Thanks for being concerned after reading my last post. My skin is a lot better now.

This is what  I did for 4 days after the incident:
For Day:

I splash my face with water, pat dry, then spritz my face with LOTS of MAC Fix +, followed up by 2 pumps of Garden of Wisdom HA Serum to retain the moisture.

Then I PRESS a healthy dollop of Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream all over my skin after I emulsified it between my hands. It's great for sensitive, dry, and weather-damaged skin. It keeps my skin moisturized all day long and makes makeup look a lot better.

Since the Rose Day Cream doesn't have any SPF, I used Neutrogena Oil Free moisturizer with SPF  15 on top to protect my skin.

At Night:

I removed my face makeup with MAC Cleanse Off oil, and Lancome Bi-Facil to remove my eye makeup/lashes.

Then I used a really gentle cleanser ( cleanser, forgot to take a pic, but will do a separate review on all of the products I've used) in the shower along with a microfiber cloth to exfoliate.

Leaving my face SLIGHTLY damp, I used 3 drops of Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate all over my face.

While that's drying, I pressed some Dr. Hauschka Rose cream into my skin again. Since it doesn't have SPF, you can use it day and night.

Last but not least, I used Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado around my skin. Since the area around my eyes was brutally abused by the AHA, it needs a little extra TLC. My coworker recommended this to me and gave me a couple samples (Side note: Kiehl's give really healthy-sized samples). It is sooo gentle and moisturizing.

I credit these three items for my skin's recovery.

Both the Dr.Hauschka Rose Day Cream and Kiehl's Creamy eye treatment w/ Avocado take a few minutes to be fully absorbed since they are so hydrating. The Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate is a godsend and I will never be without it again.

The texture of the Rose cream (left) and the avocado eye cream (right)

My skin now with out makeup. Yes, I still have  lot of scars from picking my skin, but the texture is a lot better.

My skin now with makeup. YAY!! No more flaky skin/foundation!

It was a lesson learned. I will be gentle to my skin and pamper it every day. I'm glad to have my skin back.

Thanks for reading.

P.S. I really REALLY recommend the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. For realz.

Lesson of the day (part 1)

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT GET AHA NEAR YOUR EYES!!!

This might be a total "DUH~" for most of you, but since I'm a genius, I totally thought that getting some kind of ACID close to my eyes was the best idea of the century.

I used AHA+ from, which is a terrific product at chemically exfoliating my skin. It speeds up my skin's renewal process and allow the new skin to be soft and supple. I thought that it'd do the same thing for the little fine lines I was getting around my eyes. Since I have really dry skin and I am very animated, the "expression" lines have been forming out of  control. I just dabbed a little of the AHA right around my eye like I would with an eyecream. I went to sleep all giddy thinking that the next morning my eyes would be so smooth and younger-looking.

I was wrong...So wrong.

I looked like I sat in the sun for 50 hrs and am going through the worst sunburn ever. My skin was all peeling and raw. I went to take the trash out and when I got home, Nathan asked if I was alright. I looked in the mirror and you could literally see the sheets of my skin were peeling off.

Evidence: This is after 2 hrs of me painstakingly removing all the major flakes.

Oh, and for people who wondered if I were monolids or double lids: Excuse the skin. My skin scar really easily.

I almost didn't want to go to work that day. Thank Baby Jesus it was a short shift. The makeup didn't go on right, it didn't stay on, and everything looked patchy. I felt so self conscious and embarrassed.

However, being the skincare junkie that I am, I dove right into finding the perfectly soothing skincare regime to salvage my skin. After 1 week of non-stop pampering, I'm proud to say that even though the scars are still very much visible, my skin texture and feel changed completely. It is very soft and smooth now.

How did I do it and what did I use? That, my friends, is the part 2 of this post (sorry, totally am late for work). I will get back to you guys pronto.

Thanks for reading!

I have my own Comfort Zone too....

Soo...yeah, I felt all warm and fuzzy inside after reading concerned comments from so many of you in my last post. Don't worry, I won't follow that crazy HCG diet no matter now tempting it sounds. Mainly because there's NO way in hell that I'd be able to follow a 500 calories a day diet, LOL!

I know there's been a lot of talks about the new Wet n' Wild color icon palettes. After searching high n' low, I finally found them at my local Walgreens. I got Comfort Zone and Petal Pusher. I didn't get the blue one because I don't wear blue too often to justify the purchase.

This post is dedicated to my Comfort Zone palette. I honestly love it to death. I've worn it every single day since I got it.

With out flash:

With flash:

I did a super simple 5 mins look w/ this:

I used all the colors from the left side. The powders are pressed rather loosely, so while the color payoff is AMAZING, you'll also experience some fallout.

Some swatches:
Colors on the left side: These colors are rather warm. You can literally just throw any of the colors on and run out the door.

Colors on the right side: Mossy greens. These colors would look great on brown eyes.

All the colors from the Comfort Zone palette are shimmery, blendable, and very very pigmented.

The final pics of the entry:
I love the subtlety of the colors! Overall a must-have from the drugstore. At $4.99 a pop, you cannot go wrong with this!!

Thanks for reading guys!

Dear God...

Please make my period go away so I'm not retaining 15lbs of water. I'd like to fit my face on to my camera screen. Kthxbai.

Yeah....for those of you who are wondering why I haven't posted any new vids, it's because I'm more bloated than a manatee. I'd LIKE to appear all thin and glamorous on camera (since when were you EVER thin and glamorous?). I think part of it is b/c of my time of the month, another part is b/c I can't stop eating sodium enriched foods like Ramen, chips, and Ritz crakers w/ butter & jam. So maybe I'm NOT bloated, maybe I just got super fat.

Oy. FML. I need to pick up running again....but it's cold out........ FML^2

My coworker is on this HCG diet, where you take this pregnancy hormone drop under your tongue 3 times a day. She lost 12 lbs in the first WEEK. She's been on that diet for like 3 weeks now and had lost 20lbs (jaw + floor til the end of time!!!!!!!!!!). Here's the catch though: While you are on this diet, you can only consume 500 calories a day. Also, the HCG drops are $150 for a little dropper bottle. Oh HELL NAW, for $150, I'll get to eat whatever I want whenever I want. Screw th 500 calories a day diet. My morning coffee has more calories than that (I like my cream w/ a little bit a coffee, plus a huge blob of whip cream)!!

I am making a conscious effort to eat healthier though. Nathan and I went to farmer's market and got a lot of fruits and veggies....but is it just me or are healthy food not as filling? I could eat a Big Mac and be full for a couple hours. When I eat healthy foods, I'm always ravished.  Maybe I subliminally feel guilty for consuming 1000+ calories in one meal that I train my body to not eat after that? I can't just eat ONE apple, I need like 5 and still feel empty afterwards. Maybe I've already stretched my stomach out way too much. *shrugs*

Sigh, there is a long road ahead of me...I'm not greedy though, losing 5 lbs a month is enough for me. So by the time summer rolls around (and all the workout fanatics in Boulder start to show off their perfect bodies), I won't look like an awkward person living in the wrong city.

Thanks for reading guys! I know this post probably doesn't make any sense, but made sense in my head.

Have a great day guys!

P.S. Hi Allie! It was very nice meeting you at the counter the other day. Sorry I seemed frantic/emotionally uninvested, I'm not good in surprising situations like that. Whenever you get a chance though, definitely drop by and let's play with some colors!! I've love to do your makeup! :)

Ice Queen FOTD

Note to self: I really need to start remember taking pics after I'm done w/ makeup.

This was an old FOTD. I think I did this look a month ago. I remember that day being very snowy and bitterly cold. I literally froze my nips off. I wanted to do a look to reflect the road condition (?), so I chose a lot of silver and charcoal.

Initial look <--I liked this a lot more.

What I used:

--Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Foundation in Warm Ivory
--Laura Mercier Secret Concealer
--NYC Bronzer in Sunny

--Ben Nye Contour #1
--MAC Blushbaby
--MAC Soft & Gentle MSF

--MAC Soft Ochre Paintpot
--MAC Electra all over lid
--MAC Silver Ring blended all over crease
--MAC Knight Divine in the outer V & bottom liner
--False lashes
--Stila Nanda Devi on brows

--Nothing, MAC Hue or Creme Cup would've looked really good. However, being a genius that I am, I threw on a red lip (NYC Sheer Red l/s), which totally transformed this look from ethereal to tranny in less than 2 secs.

Initial look close up:
Tranny Transformation

Yeah, definitely should've stayed with the nude lips. But hey, at least my cheeks looked glowy. This is why I adore all highlighters. My name is Tao and I'm addicted to highlighters.

My mom got me these really cute slippers. LOL! She brought them with her all the way from Miami. Sigh, I love my mom.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Wonder Woman Launch FOTD

Thank you so much for those of you who commented on my last downer post. I just really needed to vent. I also realized the potential risk it imposed and had therefore deleted the post. You learn as you grow. There are wolves in the world, watch out for yourself.

Yesterday (Thursday) was the official launch of the Wonder Woman collection in North America. We had to wear our assigned Wonder Woman shirts, and our product specialist made us headbands. I felt very super-hero-y.

The overall look:

Close ups:

--Laura Mercier Moisturizing foundation in Warm Ivory <--Ironically not very moisturizing, AMAZING coverage though
--Dior Long-wearing moisturizing concealer in 520

--MAC Soft & Gentle MSF

--MAC Soft Ochre Paintpot

--MAC Blooz Eye Kohl
--False lashes

Failed FOTD

Hi guys! Sorry for the lack of updates recently. I'm DEATHLY sick. I was making fun of Nathan a week ago for having a terrible cold/flu, now I've got it (He better watch his back, muahahahah). My nose is all stuffy, I kept coughing, and I sound like an 90 yr-old lady <--I refer to this as my "sexy voice" though, cuz it's different than my normal high-pitched squeaky voice.

Today I want to show you guys a look that I did recently that failed miserable.
The eyes weren't blended enough, the liner was asymmetrical (my eyes were being funky that day), the foundation didn't cover enough, and the lipstick just didn't go with the eye makeup. :( It was just a sad day all the way around.

What I used:

-- MAC Pro Longwear foundation NC25
--MAC Pro Longwear concealer NW20
--NYC bronzer in Sunny

--MAC Harmony to contour
--NYX blush in Spice
--MAC MSF in Soft & Gentle

--MAC Electra
--MAC Knight Divine
--MAC Dazzlelight
--Physician's Formula gel liner in black
--false lashes
--stila e/s in Nanda Devi on brows

--MAC Style Curve l/s <--Honestly, I don't like it.

More pics:

Big eye, small eye...

Yes, I do like to make kissy face

Close up of the lip

Eh, just make the best of it....

I just finished taking swatch pictures of 4676846 products I recently got. More posts coming up in the near future. :)

Take care,
