Review: Josie Maran Argan Milk Intensive Hydrating Treatment

Finally, the third and final installment of Josie Maran skincare review trilogy!

Today we are talking about the Josie Maran Argan Milk.

Argan Milk (I like anything that contains the word milk in it) is a milky-white serum that’s a complete emulsion of argan oil and purified water. It’s designed to have a lighter consistency than the original argan oil yet deliver just as, in not more, hydration. It’s been my personal experience that when you use oil in conjunction with water your skin, the hydration seeps in on a deeper level as opposed to just protect the outer layer of your skin.

According to Sephora, this product was formulated to:

“…pairs the deep hydration of purified water with skin-rejuvenating micro-droplets of Josie’s 100% Pure Argan Oil. Lightweight yet super-intensive, Pure Argan Milk Intensive Hydrating Treatment penetrates deeply and absorbs quickly to fortify and repair skin for instant, long-lasting hydration that produces a fresh, radiant glow. Purified water plumps and hydrates while argan oil preserves and nourishes, locking moisture in and preserving skin's youthful cushion.”

The packaging is one of things that I LOOOOOOVE about this product. The somewhat transparent teardrop-shaped glass bottle that makes the basic bitch in me squeal with delight. The dropper dispenses the precise amount of product drop by drop, so you wil never get too much product.

I also love how absorbent this product is compared with the original argan oil. Due to the addition of water, the product is a lot more liquid-y than its predecessor and feels very luxurious when massaged into the skin. Immediately after using this product, my skin is refreshed, radiant, and well moisturized.

Unfortunately, that’s when the magic stops.

I have dry skin year-round and it’s made worse by the cold weather in Seattle (I woke up to a crisp 47 degrees this morning). This product is DEFINITELY not moisturizing enough by itself to keep my skin from flaking. While my skin is moisturized upon application of the product, the moisturization only lasts around 4 hours tops for me.

This product is one of the pricier items in Josie’s line, retailing at $56 for 1 oz of product. On the packaging it does suggest to use this in conjunction with Pure Argan Oil, but if I’m paying $56 for a measly 1 oz, you better bet your sweet ass that I’m looking for more than just a light “primer” for another product.

Overall, you might want to give this a try if you have normal/combo-oily skin. Dry-skinned gals, you’d most likely be better off taking your money elsewhere.

And the search goes on. #TheStruggleContinues

Hope this review was helpful for some of you. Stay tuned for more!

Review: Josie Maran Daily Moisturizer SPF47

The Josie Maran Daily Moisturizer is another skincare item I picked up from QVC recently (THE SEARCH NEVER ENDS!).

The product description according to Sephora:

What it is:
A new and improved hydrating, fast-absorbing, non-greasy, Argan Oil-infused daily moisturizer featuring all natural sunscreens, green tea, and innovative SunBoost ATB™.

What it is formulated to do:
This all-natural, chemical-free, lightweight sunscreen moisturizes the skin with a non-greasy texture. It features skin-loving ingredients such as green tea, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, and innovative SunBoost ATB, resulting in powerful sun protection. This product includes all the benefits you'd expect from an Argan Oil-infused daily moisturizer: skin-nourishing, texture-smoothing, and radiance-boosting. Ultimate protection plus beautifying benefits—true bliss.

This product retails for $32 for a 2oz bottle, which, in all fairness, isn't that bad considering how outrageously expensive drugstore skincare are today.

It comes in an amber glass bottle with a pump. Since it's formulated without any harmful preservatives, the dark bottle helps to extend its shelf life. One pump dispenses enough product to cover my entire face and neck (gotta protect that area too!!).

The moisturizer itself is a peachy pink lotion that's pretty liquid-y. The tint does disappear after you rub it in, but it does have a nice brightening effect. However, since my skin is pretty fair, I cannot vouch for the same thing if your complexion is quite a bit darker. It has a nice fruity scent (kinda like apricot with sunscreen).

I hope you can see the texture here.
Look Ma, all gone!
The Pros:

  • I really enjoy the scent. It's quite refreshing.
  • On MY skin, it's very moisturizing and the moisturization lasts quite a while.
  • The texture of the lotion is AMAZING; it feels so luxurious.
  • The peachy tint really brightens up my face.
  • Physical sunscreen SPF47 with natural ingredients (Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide)

The Cons:

  • Made my skin oily after a couple hours (it's rare for products to do that since I have really dry skin). If you have oily/combo skin, it might not hold up for you.
  • THE WHITE CAST! Oh no, not the dreaded white cast!!! It will make you one up Casper in paleness. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT use this if you know there will be flash photography.

I would highly recommend to get samples of this to try out and see how you like it before purchasing it. I wish I did that myself. DAMN YOU QVC AND YOUR LATE NIGHT PROGRAMS! It fully takes advantage of the spontaneous bitch that lives inside me and make me buy ALL the things!

After using this product several times, I've decided that while I like it, it's not a must have. $32 is still quite a bit for something that's just "meh" to me. Unfortunately, this little guy will be going back. :(

Please let me know if you've tried this product and how you liked it. If you have any recommendations for a moisturizer that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I'd greatly appreciate it.

As always, thanks for stopping by my blog. Until next time!

Review: Josie Maran Argan Oil

If you've followed me throughout the years, you will know how crucial a GOOD moisturizer is to someone with extremely dry skin like me. It's scary to think about how much money I've spent in my quest for the best moisturizer, and while I've tried many great ones, the search is never-ending.

I'm sure many of you have heard of the Josie Maran and her famous (infamous?) 100% Pure Argan Oil. Some would even say that Josie single-handedly brought Argan Oil to the cult status at which it sits today.

Admittedly, they have a damn good walking advertisement. I mean...just look at her (she's 36)... She looks so damn good!!!

Not gonna lie, Josie's always been my favorite Maybelline model.

Half the reason why I even spent $48 for a 1.7oz of this argan oil was so I could personally try out the secret (or not so secret) potion Josie uses to keep her skin radiant and wrinkle free. Maybe that way I could finally look so nonchalantly chic while my gorgeous husband plays with my gorgeous kids in front of our gorgeous house.

Ok, so without further daydreaming, how is the product?

First, let's see what the product claims to do:

According to the Sephora website:

What it is:
A lightweight oil that can be used as a daily moisturizer or treatment for skin, hair, and nails.

What it does:
This 100% Pure Argan Oil is a legendary oil that's rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, and grown organically in Morocco. With its multitasking benefits, Argan Oil can be used for many areas including hydrating and nourishing skin, as a daily moisturizer, skin treatment, treating spilt ends, and softening cuticles. It's gentle enough to use on all skin types and is believed to help with skin conditions including acne. Argan Oil easily absorbs into skin to give you a youthful, dewy glow, and has astonishing healing, conditioning, and antiaging properties to keep your skin and hair nourished and revitalized and to keep you looking beautiful from head to toe. "

According to me:

This lightly colored and SLIGHTLY scented oil comes in a amber glass bottle with a dropper.

The pros:

  • The texture is light and quickly absorbed in the skin.
  • It has almost no scent. While I don't really care if the skincare product is scented or not, this would be great for people who are sensitive to scents.
  • It really does moisturize and is multi purpose. I use it as pre-shampoo hair treatment, moisturizer for face and body, and it's also fabulous as cuticle oil.
  • Josie...'Nuff said

The cons:

  • Expensive! The one I got is 1.7oz bottle for $47.

Since argan oil is produced from the kernels from argan tree unique to a certain region in Morocco, the trees and the people who process/extract the oil are protected by several international agencies. You can start to read some here, but a simple Google search will yield a lot more reading material.

Bottom line is, if you are getting real argan oil (not the stupid argan oil infused synthetic crap), you're most likely getting the oil from the same place regardless of price. I've heard great things about Pura d'or and Majestic Mountain Sage

Again, Josie Maran pure argan oil is great. However, in my opinion, it is way overpriced for what it is. Therefore, I would not spend $47 on this product again.

Hope this review was helpful. As always, thanks for stopping by my blog. See you next time!

Soo...Is this thing still on?

Umm, so...yeah. This is awkward.

I don't know how many of you still read this blog, but I want to say a huge thank you for those of you who do.

I'm not sure if you guys knew, but my Youtube/Blogger has always been kept somewhat of a secret in real life. None of my friends nor family knew about it. I don't know why, but I felt like it was MY thing, you know? It was something I do on my personal time in my personal space as a release of pent up stress/emotions. After a while, I lost interest since the process of getting ready to film, record, edit (not that I did too much of that), and dealing with haters added more stress to my already jam-packed life. I stopped blogging and decreased video uploads.

It was my intention to keep it that way, but as fate would have it, I ran into a subber in real life! I was with Bryan at the time, and he was perplexed as to why some stranger was hugging me and why I was so excited. After he learned that I have a YT was hard to keep that fact contained.

Before I could stop him, all his coworkers/his friends/my friends knew. At first I was upset because I felt that my privacy was violated. I almost had to brace myself for the amount of imaginary jokes coming my way.

However, what surprised me was how supportive everyone was. My friends gave me lots of encouraging words and also offered constructive criticism. To be quite honest, most of them were more excited about my channel than I was! I realized how people could YT as a career (although I couldn't handle it personally) when they have a strong support system.

Even though it was more of an accident at the beginning, having my YT/Blog secret out has been very liberating.

What excites ME the most is how many videos I could get Bryan to be in! :D

We already recorded the Husband/BF tag! Feel free to check it out here if you have had a chance to!

When I'm not hustling in the corporate world and running around at the dog park, my life involves A LOT of sleeping. A. LOT.

With that being said, the fire I had for YT/Blog at first had been re-lit! I am so excited for what all I have to share with you guys! Be prepared for the loads of reviews/tutorial/COUPLES VIDEOS coming up soon!

That's it for today. Bye for now!
